Step 1 – Grab your measuring tape!
Step 2 – Measure your countertop
Measure width (end-to-end) & depth (wall-to-edge) of each AREA.
AREA = Counter forming a square or rectangle.
Measure to 1/4″. This doesn’t have to be exact.
For L-shaped counters, the first leg is AREA 1, and the 2nd is AREA 2, as below.
Extend angles to form a square or rectangle, like this:
Step 3 – Calculate surface area in square feet
Width x Depth of each Area = Area in Square Inches.
Divide by 144 = Area in Square Feet
Example: A counter 84 x 25.5″ = 2,142 Sq In / 144 = 14.88 Sq Ft . . . Easy, Yes?
Step 4 – Calculate the labor cost of your job
Add up SF for all Areas. Multiply by our labor cost of $29.50 per Sq Ft.
